PARIS - Since the inception of designers Pier Paolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri, the romance has flowed its way back into Valentino, through the use of beautiful embroidery, lace, florals, and a historical element, as if the collection was made for high-society women out of the 18th century in the Age of Enlightenment. And indeed, that was exactly the inspiration for the Valentino Spring/Summer 2012 collection at Paris Couture Fashion Week. The style was very bourgeouis and very French, almost like something a member of the royal family back in that time period would wear at home or on vacation in the countryside. The clothes looked antique and valuable, as if the designers worked chemicals into the fabric to give it a certain look.
